FMCA's 'Towables' Guide Removes Guesswork from Dinghy Towing

Family Motor Coach Association's “Towables For 2012” guide povides direction for motorhome owners looking for a new towed vehicle. Motorhomers can find all of the information they need to make an educated towed vehicle buying decision by consulting this annual "Towables" guide.

With springtime approaching, many motorhome travelers will begin preparing for the 2012 travel season. Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA), an international organization for motorhome owners, realizes that destination planning and prepping the motorhome will be high-priority tasks.

But it’s also a time of year when scores of owners begin to look for a new towed vehicle to pull behind the motorhome during their travels.

While the motorhome itself is a self-contained rolling residence, once the campsite is reached and the transition from mobile machine to cozy home is completed, many prefer not to have to convert it back to a means of transportation. That’s why many motorhome travelers desire to have an additional vehicle available for sight-seeing excursions, trips to the market, or visits to congested metropolitan areas.

While some folks employ a trailer or tow dolly to bring along their secondary vehicle, the favored method for most motorhome owners is four-wheels-down towing.

Wave of the Future - Cleaner Magazine: Jetter, Vactor, Sewer Cleaning Professionals

About 85 percent of the joints were leaking in the 30-inch concrete storm water drains under a runway at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine. The three 440-foot pipes ran side by side, had joints every three feet and drained tides from the Atlantic Ocean.

Since the runway was due for repaving, Passero Associates, an engineering firm in the city, put out a request for proposals to rehabilitate the drains. Engineered Lining Systems, a Jacksonville-based company with a specialty in cured-in-place pipe and structure restoration, won the bid.

SADDLE PURCHASED FROM STALL SKINS SAVINGS!

Stalls Skins are the intelligent choice over rubber stall mats for your barn. It’s as simple as that.

Why?

Here’s a recent note from a Stall Skins customer: “I was able to buy the saddle of my dreams after saving significant money from using Stall Skins in my barn instead of conventional rubber horse mats. I couldn’t believe it at first, but after taking out the rubber stall mats and putting down Stall Skins, I saved about $75 a month for each stall in shavings costs alone! And I spend less time cleaning the stalls, too. The stalls remain remarkably clean and dry, and I don’t use nearly as much shavings — obviously! I’m so happy that I have Stall Skins instead of rubber stable mats, and my horses are happy too. Thanks for the new saddle!”

Polk’s Top 7 Tips to a Long RV Generator Life

My first tip won’t extend the life of your motorhome’s generator, but it could save someone’s life.

1. Carbon monoxide poisoning:
Carbon monoxide gas is invisible, odorless and deadly. If for any reason your motorhome does not have a functioning CO gas detector, you need to purchase and install one designed for use in recreation vehicles (follow the manufacturer instructions for proper installation).

Test the CO detector for proper operation prior to each RV trip. Inspect the generator exhaust system before starting the generator, and never run the generator set with a damaged or leaking exhaust system. Do not leave windows open when running the generator and do not park close to obstacles such as buildings or other RVs when running the generator set. Be cautious of other RV owners running their generators close to where you are parked, and never sleep while the generator is running.
